On the path to net zero energy

To increase the availability of renewable energy supply in Hong Kong in the short term and support Gammon’s ambition for net zero energy in the longer term, Gammon has recently invested in the installation of a further 200kWp capacity photovoltaic (PV) renewable energy system at the Gammon Technology Park in Tseung Kwan O (TKO) Industrial Estate.

The system, consisting of 480 photovoltaic panels, was installed on the steel roof of a U-shaped workshop. In addition to the first system that we established on the mixed-use building in 2019, we now have two PV arrays that connect to the CLP Power Grid at our TKO premises, generating around 555 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of about 168 households. Last year we also added PV systems to two highways maintenance contract sites (50kW capacity each) in addition to the existing temporary site installations at projects in Ma On Shan and Kai Tak that are connected with the Feed-in Tariff.

We look forward to sharing experience in design and installation with other stakeholders who wish to retrofit renewable energy systems in the future and to contribute to a lower carbon energy supply for Hong Kong.
