The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College West is a college accommodating 7,200 full-time and 8,100 part-time students and 650 staff. The 27-year contract comprises the design, construction, financing and provision of facilities management services. Gammon will operate the facility till 2035.
Under its "One ITE System, Three Colleges" Governance and Education Model, ITE embarkes on an ambitious programme of consolidating its multiple campuses into three mega-campuses across Singapore. It forms an integral part of the mainstream national education and training system, taking in 25% of secondary school leavers each year.
The design of the campus incorporates a number of innovative features that lead to a dramatic reduction in energy consumption of more than 30%. This achievement is instrumental in the project being awarded Platinum status in the Singapore Government’s Green Mark environmental rating scheme.
Despite a tight two-year construction programme, the campus opened its doors to students in July 2010.
