The Shanghai Commercial Bank headquarter’s redevelopment project is a multi-storey office building with a gross floor area of 13,000 square metres. The development includes the construction of pile caps, a basement, 2 above-ground floors for shops, 1 above-ground floor for a banking hall and main office lift lobby, 22 levels of offices and 5 levels for plant rooms.

The project was confronted with the challenge of site logistics as the building is located on Queen’s Road Central, one of the main access roads in Hong Kong’s central business district. To meet the challenges of the project, a comprehensive traffic management plan was prepared during the initial project stage, and was continuously updated in order to keep pace with the changing site conditions. A team of full-time traffic controllers was also engaged to manage the ingress/egress of construction vehicles and pedestrian flows.
