Offering some 5,000 apartments, Ocean Shores is a development by two of the leading names in Hong Kong's property sector - Sun Hung Kai Properties and Swire Properties. Gammon won the management contract for Phase 2 of Ocean Shores development in joint venture with Sanfield Building Contractors.
Our responsibilities included preparing programmes for the project's completion, procurement and managing the works in order to keep the project on schedule.
The advantage of this method of working was a reduction in project costs by the direct procurement of contractors. Work commenced at an early stage of the design process, without losing the benefit of competitive tendering as the work contracts were sent out once design information became available. As management contractor, we were a member of the consultant team, constantly reviewing the project's progress and assisting in packaging the work in a way that met the client's expectations in terms of time, cost and quality.
The project included the construction of a four-level podium deck containing car parking, plant rooms, service lifts to the towers, part of the clubhouse facilities and access ramps servicing the car park area. The podium supported four residential towers providing 1,536 2-bed and 3-bed apartments. Works also included road junction improvement to provide better access at Lei Yue Mun Road and Ko Chiu Road.
