Gammon was awarded a HK$1 billion contract to complete the Bellagio - Phase 2 project located at Sham Tseng. Bellagio is a major landmark project in the New Territories area of Hong Kong and a Wharf Properties Limited development.

Works included construction of an eight-level podium together with four residential towers ranging in height from 55 - 57 storeys and totalling approximately 166,000 square metres in area. Bellagio - Phase 2 will provide a total of 1,650 residential units, car parks, a clubhouse, leisure playground and European-style landscaping. The completion date was July 2005.

The greatest challenge the project presented was the completion of the 105,400 cubic metre reinforced concrete structures for both the podium and towers in the required period of 450 days and 500 days respectively.

In order to guarantee timely completion of the residential towers, an innovative Reinforced Polypropylene Compound Plate Formwork System (PP Form System) was selected to achieve the necessary four-days per floor working cycle. The introduction of this new system also aimed to promote the highest standards of workmanship, and environmentally friendly production.

This project also involved a number of site constraints, including tight noise control requirements and limited work space. Specific hygiene and transportation teams were situated on site to provide effective and immediate resolution regarding any issues raised in relation to the neighbourhood, in particular the residents of Bellagio - Phase I.
