One Island East is a 70-storey 1.5 million square feet grade-A office building on the Eastern shore of Hong Kong Island.
To improve site management efficiency and ensure the selection of optimum construction methods and sequences, Gammon used the Building Information Modelling (BIM) to facilitate the coordination of different work, reduce geometric conflicts, detect clashes early and offer benefits for both management and building maintenance teams. We are the first contractor in Hong Kong to use this new technology.
Gammon also produced and applied the Grade 100 High-Performance concrete for the construction of the building. This marked the first time that 100Mpa grade concrete had been used so extensively in Hong Kong. This concrete brings multiple benefits, including greater usable floor area, shorter construction processes, energy savings, healthier and quieter working condition.
Completed in March 2008, the One Island East added a further 1.5 million square feet to Swire’s Island East investment portfolio.
