The Hysan Place is a 36-storey mixed-use office and retail building, with 4 additional levels of basement, and a Gross Floor Area totalling around 710,000 square feet. Completed in August 2012, the building is a green landmark in the heart of bustling Causeway Bay.

At the forefront of international environmental and energy standards, Hysan Place is the first Hong Kong building to be pre-certified at the highest Platinum level for the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standard (LEED), and meets the most stringent requirements of the Hong Kong BEAM scheme.

Gammon has earned the Autodesk Building Information Modelling (BIM) Award 2010 by Autodesk in recognition of our exceptional use of BIM in the project. The BIM technology helped reduce waste over 90%, improve design coordination, optimise resources and mitigate project risks in advance of construction.

Gammon was also recognised with the Sectoral Award (Gold) for the construction industry in the 2010 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence due to its vigilant efforts in reducing the environmental impact of Hysan Place’s construction, and its effect on the immediate surroundings. Gammon implemented a sophisticated diversion procedure to direct the waste produced from the construction and demolition process away from the site in an efficient and safe manner, reducing the carbon footprint of the development. It also encouraged the use of recycled and sustainable materials for construction of the building.

To reduce disturbance and other impacts on the surrounding area, Gammon established noise barriers, mist sprayers and ventilation fans along the existing walkways. These initiatives helped to reduce noise pollution and improve the air quality in the area, minimising the site’s effect on neighbours and passersby.
