Gammon Received Multiple Honors at the CIC Sustainable Construction Awards

Gammon Construction Limited has been recognized at the Construction Industry Council (CIC) Sustainable Construction Award, where it received a total of 11 awards. This prestigious recognition honors the company's commitment to sustainable construction practices. Notably, our Design and Construction of Kwun Tong Composite Development Project stood out, clinching both the Silver Award and the Smart Sustainability Award in the Contractor in New Works of the Organisation Category.

The awards acknowledge excellence in sustainability among organisations in the construction industry, while driving continuous improvements in sustainable construction in Hong Kong. The judging criteria encompass five aspects: Engagement and Communication, Supply Chain Management, Measures and Achievement, Innovation and Bonus, and Digitalisation Technology.

For our Kwun Tong Composite Development Project, our proposed project design can cut carbon emissions at various stages - a reduction of 57% in the demolition stage by reusing and recycling 75% of demolition waste generated on site and 8% reduction during the concreting process by using Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GGBS) ready-mix concrete in the construction stage. We also leveraged a range of advanced construction technologies to enhance project efficiency and reduce waste generation, including the application of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), precast construction, Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and Multi-trade integrated Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MiMEP).

Embracing digitalisation was another key focus of this project. We implemented a suite of digital systems throughout the project lifecycle to optimise project efficiency, coordination, management and communications, such as our proprietary Smart Site Management System, GTwin and the self-developed A.I. Chatbot for Safety and Compliance, Gambot 2.0. In addition, we utilised platforms like iBEAM Unison for Embodied Carbon Assessment.

In closing, these achievements underscore Gammon's unwavering dedication to sustainable construction and digital innovation. We remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in our industry, setting new standards of excellence and contributing meaningfully to a more sustainable Hong Kong.
