Gammon Construction Awarded Three Building Contracts
Gammon Construction Limited (“Gammon”) is pleased to announce it has recently been awarded three building contracts - a commercial building on Hong Kong Island and two residential developments in Kowloon.
Commercial Development on 46-56 Queen’s Road East
Developed by Swire Properties Limited, the commercial building located at 46-56 Queen’s Road East will be developed into a Grade-A office tower. Works also include construction of a footbridge connecting the new building to another Grade-A office building 28 Hennessy Road and all associated alteration and additional works. The project will be completed in 2023.
Gammon will utilise its considerable experience of operating in the congested Wan Chai District and surrounding area to minimise disruption during the works, liaising closely with related authorities to ensure protection of the public, existing properties and traffic safety. The project aims to achieve BEAM Plus, LEED and WELL certifications, and targets to achieve a 75% reduction in construction waste by adopting DfMA for selected building services components; use of system formwork and external climbing scaffold.
With the support of the client, 5G network within entire construction site area will be developed to facilitate effective data flow as well as support the application of operational innovation during construction cycle.
Kowloon Peak Residential Project
Gammon will also be building The Wharf (Holdings) Limited and Wheelock Properties (Hong Kong) Limited’s Kowloon Peak Residential Project. The site is situated at a traditional prime location at Kowloon Tong overlooking Kowloon Peninsula. The project will be completed in 2023.
The project aims to achieve BEAM Plus and reusable components including prefabricated catch fans and shed panels will be deployed in order to reduce construction waste, and the company’s co-developed mass battery storage system, the Enertainer, will also be adopted for power supply in lieu of diesel generators to reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumption.
Residential Development on Lohas Park Package Eleven, Tseung Kwan O
Developed by a consortium comprising Sino Land Company Limited, K. Wah International Holdings Limited and China Merchants Land Limited, the development project includes construction of three residential towers atop a five-level podium; and four link bridges. The project will be completed in 2024.
To facilitate the construction process, Gammon’s digital solution, STAMP, together with data log devices will be fully adopted to monitor the delivery of construction materials as well as the installation. While quality control will be carried out via Inspecto – an in-house developed technology that facilitates the entire process of Request for Inspection and Survey Checks (RISC).
Mr Thomas Ho, Chief Executive of Gammon Construction said, “We are eager to dedicate our expertise to these building projects and to construct them safely, efficiently and with minimal waste. As always, our teams will seek every opportunity to implement both our own and industry innovations and technologies that ultimately result in an improved quality of product for our clients.”
