Gammon Construction wins S$210 million (HK$1.29 billion) contract for the Construction of Havelock Station for Thomson Line in Singapore
Gammon Construction Limited has been awarded a S$210 million (HK$1.29 billion) contract by Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the construction of Havelock Station for Thomson Line in Singapore. This is the second contract for Thomson Line awarded to Gammon, following the award of the contract for the design and construction of Mayflower Station.
Havelock Station is located beneath Zion Road. It is sited in close proximity to residential housing estates and commercial buildings.
Work is expected to start by the first quarter of 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in 2021.
Commenting on the contract award, Thomas Ho, Chief Executive of Gammon said: "Gammon is delighted to be awarded the second contract for Thomson Line by LTA. We are fully committed to this significant project, and are confident of our ability to deliver a quality product, with the highest safety standards and within the construction programme."
Fully underground, the 30-km long Thomson Line comprises 22 stations, including Havelock Station and six interchange stations. It will connect with the North-South-East-West Line (NSEWL), Downtown Line (DTL), North-East Line (NEL) and Circle Line (CCL), providing greater accessibility and significantly improving travel time for the community.
