Gammon Sponsors China Coast Marathon and Half Marathon
Gammon Construction Limited (“Gammon”) is proud to be the title sponsor for the Gammon China Coast Marathon and Half Marathon 2012 held at Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung on 15th January 2012, one of the oldest and demanding road-racing annual event in town organised by the Athletics Veterans of Hong Kong (AVOHK).
Gammon will be supporting China Coast Marathon and Half Marathon for three years to cover the 2012, 2013 and 2014 events.
A total of 59 Gammon staff participated in the events to demonstrate the support from the company. 17 Gammon runners challenged the full or half marathon while another 42 staff took part in the Community Chest 10km race, held on the same day over the same course which raises fund each year to support local charities.
Gammon has a long history of enthusiastic and substantial commitment to sporting and charity events in the community. Believing that a healthy and vigorous body is of the utmost importance for everyone, Gammon welcomes sporting events that help promote healthy lifestyle.
“The event not only brings a considerable number of athletes from around the world together, but also allows our Gammon colleagues to get involved, which is a great way to promote the benefits of running and make physical fitness a part of their lives,” said Mr Thomas Ho, Chief Executive of Gammon.
The running course, around High Island Reservoir, takes in the most stunning scenery in Hong Kong. The beautiful course attracts runners to enjoy a green race as well as reminds the community the importance of environmental protection.
This year is the 25th year of the China Coast Marathon and Half Marathon race. A total of 3,800 runners completed the Gammon China Coast Marathon and the Community Chest Corporate Challenge this year.
