TaiKoo Place, Hong Kong

Swire Properties has redeveloped the site of the old TaiKoo Sugar factory in the Quarry Bay district of Hong Kong Island into TaiKoo Place: 4.1 million square feet of Grade A office and light industrial space, all linked by a network of pedestrian footbridges. Conveniently located for public transport and adjacent to Swire's massive TaiKoo Shing residential development (built by us in the 1970s), TaiKoo Place has become the hub of the new, emerging Island East business district.

We have worked closely with Swire Properties on this visionary urban regeneration project, and have built nearly 2.3 million square feet of office space for TaiKoo Place, comprising:

Devon House:

A 29-storey, 830,000 square feet office tower on a 4-level basement car park. Built using top down basement construction (as were all of our subsequent buildings in the development), we designed and incorporated in the building, cost saving post-tensioned floor slabs.

Contract value: HK$800 million
Construction period: 1991 2nd Quarter - 1993 1st Quarter

Dorset House and PCCW Tower:

Twin 39-storey and 42-storey office towers with a total floor area of 1,250,000 square feet on a 4-level basement car park.

Contract value: HK$1 billion
Construction period: 1992 4th Quarter - 1994 4th Quarter

Lincoln House:

A 23-storey office tower with a floor area of 342,000 square feet on a 5-level basement car park. Lincoln House was the first office building in Hong Kong to receive an "Excellent" rating under the Hong Kong Building Environment Assessment Method (HK-BEAM).

Contract value: HK$500 million
Construction period: 1996 4th Quarter - 1998 3rd Quarter

Oxford House:

A 41-storey office tower with a floor area of 500,000 square feet. Oxford House also received an Excellent rating under HK-BEAM.

Contract value: HK$724 million
Construction period: 1997 1st Quarter - 1999 3rd Quarter
