New Territories Landfill, Hong Kong
As part of its 30 years concession to manage on behalf of the Government a number of old landfills in the New Territories of Hong Kong, Swire SITA was faced with a number of site restoration issues. We were called in to help.
At the 29 ha Gin Drinkers Bay Landfill, we removed the old landfill cover and replaced it with an engineered capping layer incorporating an LLDPE membrane and geocomposite drainage layer. We also installed a gas/leachate collection system.
We also installed new capping layers and gas venting systems at the Siu Lang Shui (12 ha), Ma Tso Lung (2 ha) and Ngau Tam Mei (2 ha) landfills as well as upgrade the existing leachate collection systems.
